Title: Consumers’ perception on Environmental management and corporate social responsibility of companies – A case study
Abstract
Today, one of the most important problems humanity faces is the protection of environment. Businesses, which are inextricably linked to society, must develop initiatives for society’s benefit as a whole within the framework of their Corporate Social Responsibility. Many of these initiatives are environmental actions aimed at protecting the environment and improving the image of businesses in the consumer public. The present research effort aims to study the expectations consumers have of companies regarding environmental issues and to evaluate their attitude towards companies with high environmental performance as well as towards products and services which are environmentally friendly. In addition, it aims to record and study the opinion of the consumer public for the Hellenic Post (ELTA) and to capture the image consumers have of the environmental performance of ELTA in the context of CSR. For this reason, a survey was conducted using a questionnaire on a sample of 215 people and the results showed that consumers’ expectations from businesses for environmental actions are high and that they have a positive view of companies with high environmental sensitivity. Finally, the research showed that although consumers have a positive view of ELTA, at the same time they consider that the actions they develop in the context of CSR are not enough.
