Title: MASS CUSTOMIZATION FOR CHILDREN’S EYEGLASSES
Abstract
The purpose of this thesis is to design a personalized sunglasses system using 3D CAD illustration that will be fully adapted to the anthropometric characteristics of a child's face. It is important to note that the role of mass customization has been mentioned, the problem area has been explored and the requirements of a child have emerged, with the aim of detailing customized children’s eyewear. In particular, research was conducted on one child in order to fully understand the concept of customization used in the design and role of the child throughout the study. The anthropometric characteristics of a five year old child were investigated in order to design a complete personalized product. Each of the selected designs was designed to depict a super hero in appropriate colors and to create stylish and innovative eyeglasses designs. Such an innovation would create a highly competitive product for young, and at the same time demanding consumers, such as children. The most popular design needed five days to reach its final version via the Creo parametric 2.0 system. The achievement of the above study has contributed to the better design of the product, shaping it as closely as possible to the requirements of the child.
