Title: MODERNIZATION OF PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION

Abstract

Nowadays the administration (management) of the public sector is facing new challenges. Economic globalization, rapid technological change, the ever increasing demands of citizens by governments, everyone's commitment to quality service to the citizens and the uninterrupted flow of information globally set the framework in which the public sector should move producing more services to society, using increasingly depleting resources. Public organizations in contrast with the past, are directly affected by changes in their environment and must constantly adapt their structures, their procedures and their strategic objectives in the constantly changing data. This has created new challenges for them, since the citizens' demands have been increased and societies constantly asking for more.

The common belief is that the government often prevents change. It is said that because of the high bureaucracy, with an emphasis on the process and not the result but the general culture, not innovation and modernization favored.
