Title: Labour relations during the crisis period

Abstract

The aim of this announcement is the review of the basic transformations in the field of labour relations in Greece during the period 2007-2008, when the international economic crisis broke out.

This crisis constitutes the most important crisis of the post dipole era, since it hit the core of the western world, had a great impact on the member – states belonging to the Eurozone and reshaped the function of the Eurozone, as well as the function of the European Union. Regarding the countries of the south and more specifically Greece the crisis had very dynamic features covering a wide field of institutional operation, material production conditions and social reproduction. Under these conditions the “System Greece” has undergone profound reversals and transformation in the core of the welfare state and its subsystems as formed during the Third Hellenic Republic from 1974 until 2010.

This announcement will focus on the labor relations and their transformation during the time of crisis in Greece. More specifically, it will approach the basic parameters of the labour relations transformation in time of crisis observing the fundamental changes of labour legislation and in parallel the evolution of quantitative data of the labour market. It will also examine if there were between the power parties different models- different directions of governmental policy in the field of labour relations, so during the period of the strict memorandum control, as well as during the period following the typical end of the adjustment programme. Finally, it will try to answer the question why the correlation between restructuring and labour relations’ transformation was so vital, which in terms of concentration in public speaking is called “memorandum”.
