Title: The Greek social security system: analysis, assessment

Abstract

The present article presents a historical overview of the Greek pension system's reforms, from the it was established until today that a new set of measures  is under discussion. Then, the methodology for evaluating thw social security systems and the relevant empirical findings of the key indicators at global and European level in terms of adequacey, sustainability and integrity are presented. Finally, an econometric model with panel data is constructed and estimated for the EU-countries (including Greece) and useful suggestions for the sustainability of the Greek pension system are drawn.
