Title: Analysis of the decoupling of energy sectors in the 15 countries of EU15

Abstract

The decoupling of energy consumption from economic growth is one of the basic principles of sustainability. The first aim of this work is the temporal analysis of energy consumption per sector in the 15 countries of the EU15 from the beginning of energy balances registration (1960), to present (the last published data concern the year 2014) and the comparison of countries between them. Then, the trends between the change of energy consumption of various sectors and the GDP change of the 15 countries are analyzed. It is investigated in which energy sectors and in which countries a decoupling is achieved or not.
