Music Performance in Greece needs to become an independent scientific field and not just be a part of Musicology. Despite the repeated calls of the music community for the creation of a Music Academy, the official State persistently refuses to recognize this educational gap. As a consequence, young people who wish to complete their studies in Music Performance are obliged to go and study abroad.
This paper highlights the important educational gap of the Music Academies lack in Greek higher education on Music Performance. More particularly, with the use of a questionnaire, a SWOT analysis and the parallelism of the study programs of the Royal Music Academy in London, and the Music Academy in Ankara, we suggest solutions to resolve the problem of Music Academies luck in Greek Academy.
