Throughout the years, as many vacation destinations are more accessible globally, there is a well-known phenomenon that nowadays is becoming more and more frequent in a lot of countries, that of overtourism, which is basically the influx of tourists in an area that is not easy to manage or to accommodate. As a result of this kind of phenomenon, there are a lot of problems that can occur, for example, the overcrowdedness, the local environmental problem, and more. In this paper, our main objective is to analyze and compare how Greece in different time periods had this kind of phenomenon by gathering and analyzing data from various sources, like numbers of international arrivals, the number of stays and the consumption made by tourists. Our goal is to highlight the impact that overtourism has on fields like entrepreneurship and cultural heritage, as well as to indicate some suggestions for the reoriantiation of the tourism strategy of the country.
