Electronic Human Resources Management in the era of Artificial Intelligence

Abstract
Artificial Intelligence (AI) affects all traditional functions of Human Resources Management including recruitment and selection, learning and development, performance management, payroll and compensation management and employee relations. The purpose of this study is to explore the interplay between Electronic Human Resource Management (e-HRM) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) and specifically the role of AI in HR departments and the benefits, opportunities, costs and threats perceived from both management and employee side. Emphasis is also given on ethical and legal considerations derived from AI-driven HR solutions. Research methodology is based on the use of secondary data analysis by reviewing and analyzing the existing literature and case studies published between 2022 and 2025 concerning the application of AI in human resource management practices and their impact on HR departments, on employees and on Organizations. Findings reveal the perceived results of AI in HRM and the impact of AI e-HRM on HR departments, the impact of AI e-HRM on employees in terms of organizational commitment, organizational engagement, employee wellbeing, trust, justice and the perceived results of AI e-HRM at organizational level and in particular the perceived benefits and opportunities, costs and threats, added value and competitiveness.
